See all of an app's open windows from the Mac Dock
Short answer: right-click an app's icon in the Dock — the top of the menu lists its open windows, and choosing one brings it forward. There is no hover preview in macOS. Okie Dockie adds one: rest the pointer on a Dock icon and, when that app has two or more windows, a list of them appears, each named after the page or document inside. It is free.

What the Dock does with more than one window
Click an app in the Dock and macOS brings that app forward — usually with the window you used last. If you have four Finder windows or three browser windows, the Dock gives you no way to say which one you meant. Windows solved this years ago by showing a list when you point at a taskbar button.
The built-in way: right-click the icon
Right-click (or Control-click, or click and hold) an app's icon in the Dock. The menu that opens lists that app's windows at the top; pick one and it comes to the front. The same menu has Show All Windows, which lays them out side by side.
It works, but it takes a deliberate right-click every time, and many people never discover it.
A window list when you hover
Okie Dockie turns that into a hover:
- Rest the pointer on a Dock icon for about half a second.
- If the app has two or more windows, a list appears above the icon. Each row is named after the web page or document showing in that window.
- Click a row and you go straight to that window. Minimised windows are marked and restored when chosen.
- If the app has a single window, nothing appears — one click already takes you there, so the Dock behaves just as it always has.
Move along the Dock while a list is open and it follows your pointer from app to app. It works for every app, uses the real macOS Dock, needs no Screen Recording permission, and can be turned off from the menu bar.
Chrome profiles
Chrome is where this matters most, because a single Chrome icon can hide windows from several profiles. With Okie Dockie's Chrome profile icons, hovering a profile's icon lists the windows that belong to that profile and no others — your Work windows under Work, your Personal ones under Personal.
Get every Chrome profile into your Dock
Okie Dockie builds a real Dock icon for each Chrome profile you use, badged with that profile's own picture. Click one and you land back in the window it already had open.
Everything except Chrome profile icons is free forever, and the profile icons come with a 7-day free trial that starts on its own — no sign-up, no card. macOS 13+, Apple Silicon and Intel.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see all open windows of an app on a Mac?
Right-click the app's icon in the Dock; its open windows are listed at the top of the menu. Okie Dockie also shows that list when you simply hover the icon, if the app has two or more windows.
Does macOS show window previews when hovering the Dock?
No. macOS has no hover preview for Dock icons. Okie Dockie adds a list of the app's windows on hover, named by their page or document titles.
Why does nothing appear when I hover an app with one window?
The list only appears when there is a choice to make. With one window, clicking the icon already takes you to it.
Does it work with Chrome profiles?
Yes. Hovering a Chrome profile icon from Okie Dockie lists that profile's windows only.
